“The Church Accepts You Wholeheartedly”
This line struck me when I heard it earlier during the homily of the mass a while ago. I was like, “Are you serious?”. We all know that the Catholic Church is dealing with issues regarding the LGBT and the RH Bill Supporters. The Church has never been fair to these people. It treats them as if they are less than a human. A known church person once even called these people “Satan” right in front of their mother church. Is that what you call acceptance? The LGBT and the RH Bill Supporters, as long as they are devout Catholic, deserves acceptance and respect too despite their different views in life.
As the reenactment of the “Washing Of The Feet” was being done, thoughts are playing around in my mind. We all know that Jesus did this stuff only to his main disciples. According to the Bible, the disciples of Jesus consist of both men and women. I think it would be more meaningful if the Church will show that it takes care about women too by replacing the six male apostles by six female ones which will represent equality among men and women. Let’s accept it. The Church is kind of Sexist. It says that men must be more dominant than women. It can be supported by Biblical Verses but I’m not going to state them anyway. Speaking of acceptance, women deserves the same level of acceptance that the men receives from the church.
To sum up this thing, I’m not satisfied with the actions of the Church regarding “Acceptance”. It is still close-minded about certain things. I know they’re taking care about morality. But sometimes, they are taking care so much that it becomes rude and annoying. The actions they want their followers to do sometimes seems impractical too.
Well, it is just my opinion. I do not intend to hurt someone nor I would like to bring down the Church.
